Bello Nock

Bello Nock, named “America’s Best Clown” by Time magazine, returns after an absence of nine seasons to his first American circus, where he became a star. The playfully elegant Bello, with his gravity-defying hair, trademark tuxedo, white gloves and spats, is back with his daredevil stunts and child-like humor. A seventh generation performer, he hails from a family of daredevils, ballerinas, equestrians and opera singers. In addition to performing in his renowned family circus, Circus Nock, the daredevil clown has built on his love for athletic challenges and comedy, living up to his motto, “No audience member should need more than the edge of his seat!” His performing career began at the tender age of six, playing “Little Michael Darling” in Disney on Parade’s “Peter Pan” with Cathy Rigby. By the age of nine, Bello began his own wire-walking act. Since then, he has invested an incredible amount of time developing his skills as a great acrobat, juggler, improviser, musician, comic, and athlete. The New York Daily News proclaimed that Bello “might be the greatest athlete to ever set foot in Madison Square Garden.” Bello has won a countless number of awards for his work, including the Silver Clown in Monte Carlo in 1998 and two Best Comedy acts at the Sarasota Circus Festival. As would befit someone who rides motorcycles on tight wires sixty-five feet above the heads of his audience, performs acrobatics atop steel sway poles at up to eighty feet in the air, and hangs on a trapeze from a helicopter flying over the Statue of Liberty, Bello maintains a balance in and out of the ring, happily married to his high-school sweetheart and personal assistant Jenny, a retired trapeze artist. Bello and Jenny have two daughters and one son, who are gaining interest in the circus world. Big Apple Circus is thrilled to welcome Bello back into the ring!
