About the show
Curatola Brothers

Big Apple Circus proudly welcomes the Curatola Troupe, which presents an elegant fusion of acrobatics and dance. Born in Italy, Giuseppe and Emanuel Curatola are the third generation of a performing circus family. After attending Italian circus school, Giuseppe at sixteen years of age and Emmanuel at eleven years of age put together a hand-to-hand acrobatic act in 1994. Their act was very successful and since then, they have worked at the best circuses, casinos, theaters and festivals in Europe and beyond. While performing in Circus Roncalli, Emanuel met and married Tetyana Levkova, a talented, well-educated member of the circus’s ballet ensemble. Tetyana took time off from performing to have a baby, while Emanuel and Guiseppe performed in other venues such as the Great Moscow Circus in South Africa, Casino Estoril in Portugal, and many venues throughout Europe. After the birth of their son, Tetyana joined the Curtola Troupe, performing at Circus Dannebrog and Finlandia Circus. Tetyana, born in Kiev, Ukraine, began attending dance school at the age of six where she developed her skills in folk and step dancing. She went on to study at Circus Variety College. She performed in circuses in Germany, Denmark and Italy from 2000 to 2008. Together, their act is known for the strong and powerful tricks executed with elegance and ease. This is their first appearance in Big Apple Circus.
