Can I Join Big Apple Circus Clown CareSM?

POSITIONS OPEN AT:

Big Apple Circus Clown Care at Miami Children's Hospital with auditions on January 24, 2012.

The Big Apple Circus Clown CareSM hospital clowning program brings laughter and joy to acutely and chronically ill children and their caregivers in leading pediatric hospitals across the nation.  Our specially trained clown doctors make clown rounds three to five days a week, year round, making more than 250,000 one-on-one bedside visits each year.

Big Apple Circus Clown Care hires local, professional variety artists who work in venues such as stage, film and event entertainment, We look for talented improvisers and clowns whose acting is complemented by virtuosity in specialty skills such as juggling, music, magic, puppetry and dance. We select artists through a rigorous two-part audition process and then train them to work in the sensitive and specialized hospital environment. Not every fantastic performer has the temperament to be a good hospital clown.

The job of “Clown Doctor” is a permanent part-time position working directly for the Big Apple Circus. Performers are part of a unique group of variety artists who have dedicated themselves to bringing the joy of circus to the patients, families and staff of the pediatric facilities we serve. Flexible scheduling and continuing artistic development, including classes with master teachers, make this an amazing opportunity for the serious variety artist.

If you are a professional performer, we encourage you to send your materials. We hold all materials for one year. We will contact you if we are holding auditions in your area and we think you might be a good fit for the team. If you have not heard from us in that time, please send an updated set of materials—we are sure you will have many additional accomplishments over the course of a year.
